THE LAST BLOG

Hello dear classmates and teacher.
This is the last blog. I´m little sad because I don´t know if I will have time to write more blogs in the near future.
Today, I want to tell you about my academic life during this semester.
What I enjoyed more in our English class was to make blogs, because I had to play with different issues and sceneries. Also, because I could tell you about part of my life, my interests and my future plans and, I could know more about you. Was very interesting for me to know your different experience and how sociology thinks.
The blog in a nice and friendly platform that allow the creation of different histories, using designs, photos and videos, so, you can make more enjoyable what you are writing. It is a modem way to create your own book, or, even more, because many people can read it immediately. Also you can edit and correct the contents It´s marvelous! I´m very happy to participated in this experience. Writing blogs helped me to develop my English, because obliged me to look new words and to tray to write better. I will try to continue practicing, and I will try to write blog sometimes. It will help me a lot.
Although I feel better writing English, I feel I need to practice much more the oral part.
It is very difficult to me to communicate in English. I can´t find the words, my mind went black or takes me long time to find the words. I would like to study more English in the future. It is very necessary to me.
In my others subjects, the English is vital. In some subjects 90% of the bibliography is in English and I have to read it in a very short time. Also, in the archaeological congress, seminars and exhibitions, every day English is more necessary. Because that, it is essential I would continue advancing in this language.

I hope everyone will be successfully in its future plans. It was a pleasure to share with you.

Hello!

There classmates and teacher. I will tell about a job I would like to have.
I would like to work in a public institution, where I could combine the legal issues with the archaeology. I´m thinking in the Chilean National Council of Monuments. I would like to work there no more than two years, in order to obtain experience. After that, I would like to work in an environmental consultance regarding with cultural heritage and archaeology. Also,  I would like to research about the inca lithic quarries of Chile, and the operative chain for the production of their architecture.  This is an important issue than nobody had studied before.
For me, the  most important of a job is to enjoy it, and I believe that this depends on different aspects such: 1) the laboral climate, 2) how stressing it would be, 3) how interesting would be, 4) the free time that will permit me to stay home and, 5) the salary.
My strengths are: the responsibly, my capacity to work in groups, my systematic and compromise with the job and the institution, capacity to solve problems.
Always is difficult to answer about my own weaknesses, but I think than I´m too perfectionists and I don´t like to work more than 8 hours a day.
I´m very happy with my decision of study archaeology, because allows me to do what really I like. I love field work and specially to know new sites and landscapes. The prehistoric people usually shows different environments and places, such mountains, creeks, beaches and valleys. I think that it is a privilege to work in the issue that one like, and I will work hard to find a job that will give me all what I like.

Ritoque beach

Ritoque is located north of Santiago, around 20 km north of Aconcagua River, near Quintero port. It is a beatifull and long beach, or three kilometers long.
This place is very special for me, because all my life I spend my holidays there, with my parents and grandparents. I stood there every summer, from Christmas until the firs week of march.
In this area  you can see a diversity of sea and landscape:  1) a forest of eucalyptus and pines, 2) a swiming pool with duck, 3) a big dune zone, 4) a rocky area, 5) a long beach with white sand, 6) the passing of the freight train, 6) the countryside  and 7) the hill zone.

I love to walk along the beach or over  the hill, looking the sea untill I arrive to the rocky area. All the area was full of archaeological sites, with a lot of pottery and stone material in the surface. I love to see this aboriginal materials and to I dream how was the their life. Was in that period that I decided to study archaeology. Now, after 20 years I´m studying archaeology  and I always remember those Ritoque days.
The evangelic had there a beatifull camp and I went every night there to study bible and to play with them.  I enjoyed very much to be there and until today I have a lot of friends of this period.
Also, I liked to see the train crossing Ritoque and, I remember that in one time I travelled in the train until Mantagua. Was an incredible experience that I always remember.

The planet we live in…

The conscience of conserving the environmental is something you learn, first at home and, second, in the school. There is a lot of information about this issue in the Web.
To help to preservation the environment, some municipalities display containers of different colors to separate the organic leftover, from paper and plastic. Some supermarkets and public squares, displays containers for glass bottles and only few, for alkaline batteries.
Until today, I´m not a recycling person but, I try to use the public containers, especially for glass bottles.
When I can, I walk or use the bike to do activities near my house, in order to avoid the use of the car.
I don´t belong to any ecological organization, because lack of time, but I´m very interested in information about the negative effects of the pollutants and the most contaminant activities, to promote the care between my friends and family.
I think that everyone could do much more and I would appreciate if the municipalities would be more committed with the conservation of the environment. I would like to promote positive actions between the children of the kinder gardens of my council, in order to teach them to be conscience of the fragility of the world where they live.
I’m constantly thinking about ways to reduce my carbon footprint and transmitting the information in my family. For example, I`ve always tried to be careful with the use water, the electricity and the town gas.
I think the municipality of Santiago city is missing more information to reduce we carbon footprint and to stimulate the people conscience of conserving the environmental.

My quickly trip to Cusco.

This an inform about a recent trip to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca State. The historic center of Cusco is amazing. It reflects the main ability of the Incas to build with I enjoyed very much to walk through their narrow streets and to see the Inca´s worked rocks. The most impacting ruins is the Korikancha, with its circular wall, the main Tawantinsuyu temple.

Another amazing thing of Cusco it is the food. It is an expensive, and very different. The person sells food along the roads. Many women sell “choclo” with cheese, potatoes, eggs and big quantities of different deserts.

My trip had to objectives: 1) to obtain archaeological bibliography than I need for my thesis. For this reason I went twice to the University San Antonio Abad, of Cusco and I took many photocopies and, 2) to visit the most important Inca quarries of Cusco:
Rumiqolca and Kachiqata. From these places they obtained the rocks to build all the big construction of Cusco and Ollantaytambo, respectively.

I´m very happy with the results of my trip. I obtained what I was looking for. I hope I will come back soon, because there are many other things to see, like Sacsahuaman fortress, Machupichu and the Inca Road.

You visit this link for more details on how to organize your travel to Cusco area.

good luck!

The post gives a new method to registrate each rock of the Stonehenge prehistoric site. The technique includes a digital laser system that shows the marks that the workers made in the rocks. In almost all the cases, the rocks had a side with a very pulish surface. The opposite site, for a contrary, shows a less worked surface. The main reason for a pulish surface is to reflect the sun rays during the winter and summer solstices. So, the site has astronomical connections, and the rocks of the walls plays a very important role in this connections.
During the Middle Age, and later, many people took rocks from the site and transported them into their village to construct their homes. So, now is almost impossible to identify all the rocks that belonged to the site. Some archaeologist that visited the site said that almost all the rocks of the place were worked in their surfaces and this, make the site as a very special site.
The 3D laser scan also showed some graffiti that were done to the rocks, around 3.500 years ago, belonging to Victorian and Georgians visitors. The scan also revealed that people of the Bronze Age engrave figures like small axes in many places. There are around 170 of them.
If you need more information about this interesting archaeological site and the new technique that it is been used in the site, please connect to the follow link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2012/oct/09/stonehenge-digital-laser-3d-survey

MY OLD HOBBY

Hello! Dear classmates.
My old one is basketball. I started playing it when I was twelve years old.
I inscribed myself in a basketball class in my secondary school. I enjoyed it very much and I love it.
I remember when I was chosen, at my old school, to play in my first real champion. I was very happy and I practiced every day.
Then my parents gave me a ball, a very especial one, because it had tree colors: blue, white and red.
I continued practicing and learning in my free time.
The most important day for me, was when I was chosen the top scorer in the champion school.
The funny thing is that I was given another ball, but this was the traditional one, complete orange.
What I loved more about playing was to use my hands in the ball control, and the group playing.
Now I don´t play the basketball, because I´ve been a very busy lady lately.
As it was my favorite play, now I want to teach it to my son. He´s three years old and he really like playing with balls, so I just hope that he loves this particular sport.
